Apples
Keep cakes fresh: A simple way to extend the shelf life of home-made or store-bought cakes is to store them with sliced apples. The cake maintains its moisture longer than just putting it in the fridge.
Use as a decorative candleholder: It can be used as a natural candle holder. Carve the core enough to stick in a tall decorative candle. Surround the apples with a few leaves, branches or flowers and voila! what a lovely centerpiece.
There are times in our lives when we lack motivation. Like most people, when the depression bug hits me, I turn to my movie collection for some inspiration and like magic it lifts my spirit up. Here are some on my list.
GLADIATOR an epic movie starring Russel Crowe. It is a story of triumph over adversity. I often joke about feeling like a gladiator when I first started teaching here in the USA. Incidentally this was the first movie I bought in the US.
SEABISCUIT a drama starring Tobey Maguire.
FORREST GUMP I can watch this film over and over and still not get tired of it.
TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE A great movie about life.
