About Me

Hi, my name is Maria Vandermey. I am a teacher, Filipina, wife to a nice American guy and mother to my two wonderful sons. I am a Special Education Teacher and presently co-teaching Economics and Government. I used to teach Family and Consumer Science, thus my interests on just about anything that is related to Families, Housing, Consumerism, Nutrition, Cooking and Technology. I'm probably a teacher in all aspects of my life and my mission is to share valuable information and insights. This website was born out of a desire to pass on anything that I find interesting and useful.

 My life is an adventure in its truest sense. Coming to America and moving from Laredo, Texas to Atlanta, Georgia was a big feat in itself. Add to that the challenge of teaching students of varied cultures, nationalities and abilities which really makes for a fun and challenging teaching career. Somehow, with the multicultural nature of the school's population of both students and staff, I am far from feeling alienated.  In fact, the more I associate with people from different races and backgrounds, I begin to appreciate more my uniqueness as a person and as a Filipino.
